JKRTC conducts extensive checking drive to assess passenger flow on service routes

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation conducted an extensive checking Drive from December 15 to December 17, 2023, under the overall supervision of Managing Director, Rakesh Kumar Srangal to assess the Passenger flow/load factor besides to curb ticketless travelling in JKRTC Buses plying inside and outside the UT of J&K.

General Manager (Operations) JKRTC, Jammu along with a team of Jammu-based officers were deputed to conduct an extensive checking drive on the RTC bus service routes including inside and outside UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

The teams inspected the buses on Ludhiana to Delhi Sector & Dashua to Chandigarh Sector Headquarters at Ambala, Pathankot to Amritsar Sector, Pathankot to Ludhiana Sector, and Jammu to Pathankot Sector.

Area of Checking inside UT of J&K were all District Routes including National Highway Jammu to Katra Sector, Jammu to Poonch Sector and all routes of E-Buses (City Services)

During the drive, following the passengers travelling in JKRTC Buses highlighted that scheduled timings particularly in the Interstate Sector and cleanness of vehicles should be the priority of JKRTC.

The addition of more buses on the Interstate, as well as District routes of UT of J&K, was also demanded as the passengers prefer to travel in JKRTC, for it being a Government Organisation, Reliable, convenient, affordable and offering an economical fare structure.

Besides, a few of the ticketless travelling were also found in JKRTC buses and on spot fine of Rs. 1.25 lakh was collected and deposited in the main collection account of JKRTC, while punitive action in accordance with the Corporation Rules and Regulations was taken against the erring officials with a warning to remain careful in future.

Rakesh Kumar Srangal Managing Director, JKRTC directed the concerned officers to immediately address the public grievances to provide better transport to the passengers as mandated by their duty. He further urged to continue such checking drives to curb misconduct and uphold service integrity adding that any type of laxity/casual approach by any officer towards legitimate duties shall not be tolerable.
