Sheetal Nanda flags off group of 250 youths to Jaipur, New Delhi

JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, today flagged off a group of 250 children selected from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir escorted by 10 coordinators/caretakers to Jaipur and New Delhi for a 12-day exposure visit under “Wattan Ko Jano” Youth Exchange Programme of Department of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Affairs, MHA, Gol.

The visit is aimed at exposing the youth to the cultural and social diversity Of the country.

The flag-off ceremony was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Council, and Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The youth exchange programme will enable the participating youth especially victims of militancy and children from Palaash and Parish Homes, run by the Social Welfare Department and other Orphanages, to connect socially, culturally and emotionally with the rest of the Country.

Under the “Watan Ko Jano” Youth Exchange Programme, the youth are being given a firsthand experience of the diverse social and cultural heritage and the technological progress of the country.

Among others, the Executive Director of J&K Rehabilitation Council, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani and other concerned officers were also present during the flag-off program.
