SHOPIAN: A case of total hip replacement was today performed at District Hospital (DH) Shopian, a first-of-its-kind surgery in the district hospitals of South Kashmir.
The surgery was performed by an expert team of orthopaedic doctors including Dr Alamgir Jhan, Dr Ishad Ganei, Dr Altaf and Dr Abdul Hai, and Anaesthesia and critical care support was provided by Dr Atif Nabi Shah, Dr Irfan and Dr Pragya.
The paramedical team of Javed, Aijaz, Shakir, and Faisal assisted in the conduct of the surgery.
The surgery costs about Rs 1.5 lac in private setup but was done under AB -PMJAY free of cost.
Dr Rubina Maqbool, MS DH Shopian said that this surgery was the first of its kind in the district hospitals of South Kashmir. She said the management is trying its best to provide improved and latest healthcare services to the public.
