Fire destroys five residential houses, furniture factory in Bla

Baramulla: A massive fire broke out in a residential locality on Kanlibagh Baba Reshi Road Baramulla in which a furniture factory and five residential houses were gutted and property worth Crore of rupees was reduced to ashes on Sunday late evening.

Witnesses said that a fire broke out at a furniture factory of Farooq Ahmad Najar in a residential locality on Kanlibagh Baba Reshi road which spread to nearby residential houses in jiffy in which the factory and five residential houses were destroyed.

People allege that fire service men were caught off guard as the fire tender reached late on the spot that too without water. When fire tenders reached on they ran short of water within minutes which caused massive destruction and infuriated the residents.

Ironically, the district fire station is just a few hundred meters away from the spot but people allege that the fire service department completely failed to control the fire as the fire tenders were empty. Though Army men joined firefighting operations but fire went out of control and a massive fire was going on when this report was being filed.
