Two-day UT-level Kala Utsav concludes at Jammu
JAMMU: Amid blistering performances, the two-day UT level Kala Utsav 2023 concluded today at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar here.
Principal Secretary of the Education Department, Alok Kumar was the Chief Guest at the valedictory session of the two-day event.
Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. Tassaduq Hussain; Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj; Director School Education Jammu Ashok Kumar Sharma and other officers besides a large number of teachers and students were also present on the occasion.
During the two-day event, students from various schools showcased extraordinary cultural performances.
Addressing the huge gathering, Alok Kumar highlighted the need to promote art in education at all levels. He said that efforts have been made to improve the potential of the students participating in cultural events. He reiterated that there is a need to recognise the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences for our students which play a major role in creating awareness of the rich cultural heritage and vibrant diversity of our UT and the country.
Emphasising on the need to organise such programmes regularly at the school level, the Principal Secretary shared that the aim of Education is not only to preserve and transmit our diverse cultural integrities to the coming generation but its transformation is far more significant. He maintained that the school education department (SED) is providing better platforms to children for showcasing their talent in different fields.
He expressed his gratitude to all the participating students for displaying their scintillating performances. He also informed that under the prestigious scheme PM SHRI Schools, Art Studios shall be established to give a boost to cultural activities. ”Such programmes provide a platform for our budding youth to judge their aptitude in comparison with the students of other parts of the country,” he added.
While highlighting the significance of art in the present era, Kumar also praised the efforts of Teachers for their tireless work and the Samagra Shiksha team, for making Kala Utsav-2023 a grand success.
Addressing the gathering, Project Director Samagra Shiksha said that efforts are being made to encourage students to participate in different co-curricular activities in addition to their regular class work so that they may popularize the names of their parents, areas and regions and may become a source of inspiration for others. While talking about the programme, the project director intimated around 4100 students from more than 1900 schools participated in Kala-Utsav competitions across the UT and out of which 40 Students were selected at the UT level. He added that out of them, 20 have been selected for the National level, today by a team of judges.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of School Education Kashmir stressed on the need to up-bring the potential of students in the field of art and culture at the institutional level. He stressed on the need to bring awareness among the masses especially the parents, so that no child remains uneducated and unattended.
In his address, the Director of School Education in Jammu extended his gratitude to all the students who participated in this year’s Kala-Utsav at different levels. He also thanked the teachers, CEOs, and cultural wings at the District and Divisional levels for their relentless efforts in making this year’s event a grand success.
