Baramulla: A day after the tragic death of 32-year-old Dilshada, who allegedly died due to medical negligence after giving birth at Associated Hospital, Govt. Medical College Baramulla, her family staged a strong protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday, seeking justice.
Witnesses said that the family members of the deceased assembled outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Baramulla on Wednesday to register their protest against GMC Baramulla. They shouted slogans against the Hospital Administration and doctors, demanding justice.
The protesting family and relatives of the deceased woman held doctors, paramedics on duty, and hospital authorities responsible for their daughter’s death.
Speaking to the media outside the DC Office in Baramulla, a female relative of the deceased said, “We want justice and stern action against the doctor and paramedics responsible for the death of our sister.” She added, “Today it was our daughter, tomorrow it might be yours. So, the authorities should work on the ground instead of making empty statements about better healthcare on social media platforms,” and appealed to DC Baramulla and Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar to intervene and seek justice.
Another protesting relative said, “We really don’t want to take the law into our own hands; we only appeal for justice.” He added, “We are pleading in front of DC Mam, as we have a lot of hope in her to direct the authorities to thoroughly investigate the death of our daughter.”
He further expressed the pain the family has gone through, losing a mother of three kids, stating that their pain cannot be explained in words.
A relative of the deceased stated, “Our daughter was in perfect health, and she lost her life due to the negligence of doctors after delivering a baby boy at GMC Baramulla. Despite her post-delivery discomfort, the doctors delayed examination, leading to her untimely death.”
Protesters chanted slogans condemning the hospital and accused doctors, asserting that prompt action could have saved the life of the deceased, cut short by the alleged carelessness of medical professionals.
