Div Com assesses Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls at Gbl

GANDERBAL: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri who is also Electoral Roll Observer chaired a meeting to assess the ongoing Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, here at VC Room, Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, (DEO) Shyambir, ADC, ACR, EROs, AEROs and other district officers. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of various registered political parties.

During the meeting, the DC briefed the chair about the progress made in the ongoing work related to the Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls for the year 2023.

The Div Com conducted a thorough evaluation of the progress in the district under the ongoing SSR 2023, examining the number of fresh applications for inclusion and other claims and objections.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and urged the concerned EROs and AEROs to conduct revisions promptly in line with the notified schedule.

The chair stressed the importance of EROs making concerted efforts through diverse awareness initiatives under the SVEEP program and encouraging all eligible young electors to register their names in electoral rolls, ensuring that no eligible voter goes unregistered.

The Divisional Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the representatives of various political parties for their attendance at the meeting and underscored the pivotal role of Booth Level Agents.

Later, Divisional Commissioner along with DC Ganderbal visited Gagangir, Sonamarg to review the work progress of the Z-morh tunnel and Zojila tunnel and pressed on timely completion of both projects.

The Divisional Commissioner was also briefed about the preparations for allowing traffic through the escape tunnel during winter. He also emphasized on the strict adherence to safety protocols and the implementation of robust disaster management and safety plans.
