Quality Control wing of Handicrafts Deptt conducts inspection drive of Handicraft dealers
SRINAGAR: A special inspection drive of Handicraft dealers was today conducted under the supervision of Mirza Shahid Ali Beg, Deputy Director of Quality Control, in the notified tourist area of M A Link road here.
During the inspection, the dealers found violating the norms of the Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Quality Control Act were penalised. An amount of Rs 5000 was realised as a fine, and a subsequent machine-made inventory being sold in the name of Kashmir Art products was confiscated/seized.
The dealers were warned of blacklisting in case of continued violation. They were directed to label the items within fifteen days, afterwards stern action will be initiated by the department.
