4 drug peddlers held in Anantnag
Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.
He said at Hospital crossing Srigufwara, police intercepted a motorcycle (JK03H-8664) ridden by one Ubaid Amin Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin of Kanelwan Bijbehara. Eleven bottles of codeine phosphate syrup were recovered from his possession, following which he was arrested and his motorcycle seized, police said.
At Detho-Brah road in Mattan area, Aqib Bakshi, son of Showkat Bakshi of Sherkhan Mohalla Kehribal was arrested and his bike (JK03G-3225) seized after two Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from his possession.
On his disclosure, another 1.9 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of Mohammad Ayoub Bhat, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Deetho, and 110 grams of cannabis, one kg of cannabis powder and cash ₹10,620 from the possession of Fayaz Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Abdullah Lone of Chohar Shangus. Both these persons were also arrested, police said.
Cases have been registered against all the accused persons for further investigation, police said.
