Karra said the massive blaze has left houseboat owners in a very difficult situation as their earnings were dependent on the houseboat business.

“The incident has left ten families completely devastated due to the loss of five houseboats and seven residential huts,” Karra added.

He said the assessment of losses is required on a priority basis, and then the compensation to affected houseboat owners be provided as per the level of losses, besides they should be provided the construction material including timber for reconstruction of their houseboats.

CWC Member also urged the divisional administration to provide alternate residential arrangements to fire sufferers keeping in view the winters, which are certainly going to be harsher.

Congress delegation also expressed grief over the loss of three tourists in a massive blaze and expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.

JKPCC Vice President Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, General Secretary Iran Naqib, Secretary Basharat Bin Qadir and others were part of the delegation.
