Birdi assumes charge as IGP Kashmir, reviews law & order, security challenges
Srinagar: Senior IPS officer Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Thursday assumed the charge of Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone.
Sources said that Birdi assumed the charge this morning. He relieved Vijay Kumar, ADGP, who was holding the post even after his promotion and has now been posted as ADGP (Law and Order), J&K.
Meanwhile, Birdi Thursday afternoon held an interactive meeting with range DIGs and district SPs asking them to focus on quality investigation in terror crimes and narco-terror-related cases to dismantle terror ecosystem, a police spokesperson informed.
He said the IGP Kashmir stressed upon the officers to ensure improvement in overall policing at police stations and sub-divisional levels with refinement in record building and investigation.
He stressed upon the officers to make good public relations and focus on people-sensitive policing. Addressing public grievances should be the topmost priority of valley police besides their operational and crime-related commitments, the spokesperson said.
He also stressed upon transparent and efficient policing with coordination with all sister agencies in the valley.
