Abandoning democratic rights tantamount to making public unrepresented, defenseless: JKPCC Chief
Srinagar: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Vikar Rasool Wani on Thursday said that Congress shall continue to fight for a dignified life for people, “who are feeling humiliated after the downgrading of full-fledged J&K State into two UTs, besides abandoning them of democratic rights which is tantamount to making them (people) unrepresented and defenceless”.
“The uncompromising fight of Congress shall continue against undermining democratic institutions and betraying people on so-called development and prosperity, which is being sold brazenly for political gains on the part of the BJP,” said Wani.
He, according to the JKPCC spokesperson, made these comments while addressing an impressive party worker’s meeting of Kulgam District in South Kashmir. Former JKPCC President Peerzada Mohd Sayeed and various other leaders of PCC and DCC also addressed the meeting.
JKPCC Chief asserted that the Congress Party shall vigorously continue its uncompromising fight against the undermining of democratic institutions and betraying people for political gains by the BJP. “The claims regarding so-called development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir is contrary to the ground situation BJP has pushed J&K towards darkness on every count be it the development, be it the employment or empowerment of people or be it economy and many other significant developmental measures that were required to be taken for the wellbeing of public, which has not happened.”
JKPCC Chief emphasized the party workers to make tireless efforts to reach out to people and seek resolution of the issues concerning them at the grassroots. “Though the Govt is claiming to have brought down the stars in respect of development, peace and prosperity in J&K, that is a white lie, which is known to every individual in Jammu as well as in Kashmir. Abandoning people of democratic rights is tantamount to making them represented, and defenceless constitutionally,” JKPCC Chief added.
Vikar Rasool Wani expressed satisfaction over the acceptance and the strength Congress Party has gained across J&K and appreciated the dedication and hard work of Party workers saying, “they have been working very hard to make the party vibrant not only in Kulgam but across Jammu and Kashmir which has happened given the huge gatherings of common people in public meetings and larger participation of party workers in organizational meetings, which are being held at district and block across J&K, very frequently.”
JKPCC urged Govt to wave off KCC loans availed by farmers in Kulgam and elsewhere in J&K and supply them pesticides at subsidized rates through cooperative society, besides revoking the electricity bills of the BPL category and also ensuring an adequate supply of electricity to consumers at cheaper rates, as the public in Kulgam district has suffered enormous losses from to time due to natural calamities.
