Woman drug peddler among 4 arrested

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said they have arrested a women drug peddler in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and recovered contraband substances from her possession.

Acting on reliable information, police raided a house in Trikanjan Boniyar (Uri), and recovered 60 grams of contraband heroin-like substance from the possession of one Farhat Begum alias Fancy, wife of Rayees Ahmad Khan, following which she was arrested,” a police spokesperson said.

In Kulgam, at Katran Crossing, police intercepted a vehicle (PB10DH-0600) with three persons on board. Identified as Malkit Singh, son of Sukhdev Singh of Kalar Chogawan Amritsar; Malkit Singh, son of Joginder Singh of Kotla Doom, Amritsar, and Rouf Ahmad Ahanger, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ahanger of Katran, Bumthan – all three were arrested after 3.2Kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance was recovered from their possession, police said.
