Srinagar: The family of a school bus driver, whose body was fished out from a stream in north Kashmir’s Bandipora yesterday, has alleged that he was murdered.

Manzoor Ahmad Khan, from Pribal Hajin, had gone missing on October 26 evening and his body was recovered on Saturday.

His family says they had searched him everywhere from the day he went missing, but he could not be located.

On Saturday morning, his family received a call from police when they were called in to identify a dead body that had been found in Nichair Nallah.

Family members say that that body bore visible marks of injuries on the left side of the head, in the back, underarms and the chest.

They suspect that their kin has been murdered. The family said that the day after Khan went missing, they had provided the list of people to the police who were last seen with him.

All of them were “picked up” by police on Saturday after the body was found, for questioning, the family says.

Police also suspect it to be a case of murder and were awaiting an FSL report. “We don’t claim the people he was last with might have murdered him, but they must know what had happened,” the family says.

Police said that they are working out various angles and are hopeful of cracking the case soon by establishing the cause of the victim’s death.
