Babila Rakwal assumes charge of Mission Director NHM

JAMMU: Babila Rakwal today assumed the charge of Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, at State Health Society Nagrota here.

After assuming the charge, the Mission Director had an introductory meeting with the officials of the State Health Society, NHM, and J&K. She emphasised upon them to work with utmost dedication and devotion so that the objectives behind the establishment of the Mission are achieved in full.

“National Health Mission envisages achievement of universal access to equitable, affordable and quality healthcare services that are accountable and responsive to people’s needs,” she maintained.

On the occasion, the officers of the National Health Mission informed the Mission Director about various components of the Mission and highlighted that NHM places greater emphasis on Health System Strengthening in rural and urban areas especially related to Reproductive-maternal-neonatal-child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A), and Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.

Following the introductory meeting, the Mission Director visited 104 Centralised Health Helpline established at Nagrota, Jammu under the J&K National Health Mission through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

During the visit, MD reviewed the availability of a range of services being provided through the call centre like medical advice for preliminary diagnosis of symptoms by skilled medical professionals.

She also assessed other services like counselling services on mental health, chronic diseases, psychological distress, early childhood development and grievances redressal. 

She sought feedback from the general public as well as field functionaries such as ASHAs and ANM regarding various National Health Mission Programmes, AB-PMJAY Sehat etc.

Babila Rakwal, while appreciating the functioning of 104 Centralised Health Helpline, issued directions for further strengthening the service so that better services are provided to the common people.
