J&K wins maiden 67th National School Games in Football

Srinagar: The 67th National School Games (NSG) concluded with an unforgettable day of sportsmanship, showcasing remarkable victories and historic moments. This prestigious event brought together talented young athletes from all corners of India, and their journey was marked by passion, dedication, and exemplary performance.

all the young athletes, their coaches, and the entire organizing team for making the 67th National School Games a resounding success. “Your hard work and dedication have been truly inspiring, and you’ve made J&K proud” he added.

Director YSS J&K, Subash Chander Chibber in his message to the Football and Volleyball team has said that the Department’s dedication and hard work in organising the sports extravaganza was visible. “ Fair selection and professional coaching for both the teams J&K teams was visible on the ground and clinching first position in football and third place in volleyball has made our Department proud” he added.

“Your commitment and sportsmanship have set a remarkable standard for youth sports. Well done!” he further said.

Semifinals Set the Stage:

The NSG’s last day saw intense semifinal clashes that set the stage for the grand finals. In Football, Jammu & Kashmir faced off against the formidable Kerala side. The match was a thriller, culminating in a hard-fought penalty shootout, with J&K emerging victorious with a 7-6 score at Polo Ground.

In another exciting semifinal, CISCE defeated Rajasthan at Green Valley Institute, Rajasthan earned a spot in the hardliner match against Kerala, where Kerala showcased their resilience and triumphed.

Historic Football Final:

The Football finals took centre stage under the dazzling lights of TRC Synthetic Turf. J&K scripted history by securing their first-ever NSG Football championship, defeating CISCE with a narrow scoreline of 1-0. The atmosphere was electrifying, and Aditya Mahajan from J&K was hailed as the “Man of the Match” for his exceptional performance, while Owais Ayoub (J&K) was honoured as the “Player of the Tournament” for his consistent excellence.

Volleyball Thrills:

Volleyball brought its share of thrills. J&K faced a setback in the semifinals against U.P. However, the team displayed exceptional resilience in the hardliner match against West Bengal, overcoming two straight-set losses to secure the 3rd position in Volleyball.

The Volleyball finals witnessed an intense battle between U.P. and Rajasthan, with U.P. ultimately emerging victorious and clinching the trophy. [Mohd Salman] earned the “Man of the Match” title for his remarkable performance, and [Kunal Das] was named the “Player of the Tournament” for his consistent excellence.

Joint Director Kashmir of the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K Waseem Raja’s Enthusiastic Support and encouragement were praised by one and all.

Known for his organizational expertise, this time, he took on the role of a dedicated spectator and a true fan. Raja was seen enthusiastically cheering for the teams, further adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the NSG. In his emotional and powerful speech, he hailed the officials of the Department who worked tirelessly day in and out to make this event a huge success. He thanked all the ranks of the Department and the staff of YSS from Jammu for their unconditional support in making the 67th NSG a memorable event. Pertinently Deputy Director YSS Jatinder Mishra and other senior officers and officials remained present at Srinagar to ensure that the tourney is conducted most successfully.

Grand Awards Ceremony:

The NSG’s grand conclusion featured a spectacular awards ceremony, where a display of fireworks illuminated the night sky. The awards recognized the dedication, skill, and sportsmanship displayed by the young athletes.

Throughout the 67th National School Games, the nation witnessed not only the incredible athletic prowess on display but also the camaraderie and spirit of fair play exhibited by the participants. It was a celebration of the future stars of Indian sports, leaving a lasting impact on all who were part of this historic event.
