The Battle of Shalateng was a crucial engagement that took place during the Indo-Pak War of 1947-48. Indian soldiers, along with brave locals who joined them in defending their homeland, accomplished a remarkable victory by pushing back infiltrators from across the border.

Additionally, the Ex-Servicemen Rally also celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav which signifies the triumph of the Indian Army in the Kargil War of 1999, which is a testament to the unyielding spirit and determination of our Armed Forces. The rally showcased various activities dedicated to the Kargil War followed by special guest speeches and recollections from veterans who participated in Op Vijay. A wreath-laying ceremony at Shalateng War Memorial in Sharifabad was also organised for the veterans.

The rally aimed to unite the veterans with serving military personnel, ESM organizations, Government officials and the public to understand and resolve challenges being faced by veterans. In addition, further employment opportunities and avenues for their contribution to various activities were also highlighted.

The GOC ‘Kilo’ Force paid tribute to the sacrifices and bravery of our Armed Forces, fostering a sense of unity, solidarity and respect for our soldiers, past and present.
