Div Com Jammu accords warm reception to para Athlete Sheetal Devi, Rakesh Kumar

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today received and welcomed 16-year-old Para Athletes Sheetal Devi and Para Athlete Rakesh Kumar at Jammu. The Para Athletes have returned after winning Medals at the recently concluded Para Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

Sheetal Devi, who was born without arms, has defied all odds to become the World’s First Armless Female Champion Archer.

The Div Com saluted her grit, determination and invincible spirit of Sheetal Devi that made her world’s first para Archer without arms. He also lauded the hard work and achievements of Rakesh Kumar.

The UT of J&K and while nation is proud of the achievements of the para Athletes, he said.

The Div Comm further added that the UT of J&K under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is making all efforts to promote sports and promote the sportspersons.

He also appreciated the role of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for nurturing and providing facilities to the athletes.

ADDC Kishtwar, Sham Lal, member J&K Sports Council Ranjit Kalra; DSO Sports Council, Baljinder Singh; Arjuna Awadee, Krupali Singh; Coach Abhilasha Choudhary, Escort Romika Sharma and other prominent sportspersons were present on the occasion.
