Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have busted a gang of women pickpockets and recovered stolen cash from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Sunday.
He said during the past few days, Police Station Kangan has been receiving reports about people losing their money and other valuables to picking pockets, especially in the area of Sub District Hospital Kangan.
On the directions of SSP Ganderbal, a police team set up a trap at Kangan Market and three accused women (names withheld) were apprehended red-handed, while picking pocket of one Bashir Ahmed Mir of Hariganiwan. Stolen cash of Rs 25,000 was recovered from them, police said.
A case (FIR No. 118/2023) under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kangan and further investigation is on, police said.
