The single’s final was a lopsided affair as Jehangir ran away 6-0, 6-1 winner in less than an hour against Haider Hussain.

Hussain was overcome by the match situation as he was playing his first single’s final.

Earlier, Nowshehri and Ilahi overcame some stiff challenges from Jehangir and Jameel Mir to lift the double’s trophy for the first time.

The two teams were tied neck and neck in the first set, with the eventual champions prevailing 7-4 in the tiebreak.

However, the challenge fizzled out in the second set which ended 6-1 in favour of the winners.

The tournament was played over three days in a round-robin format with over 20 matches played to decide the finalists.

General secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA) B S Jaggi gave away the trophies at the prize distribution ceremony.

Jaggi appreciated the efforts put in by the District Lawn Tennis Association Srinagar in making the Srinagar Open in permanent feature on the tennis scene of Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged the local players to take the game to the next level by getting more youngsters to take up the game.

JKLTA president Capt. Murti Gupta congratulated the winners and promised to provide all assistance to take the game to the grassroots across Jammu and Kashmir.

He also thanked the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council for supporting the game of tennis in the Union Territory.
