Expresses anguish over “problems” confronting people

Kupwara: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Vikar Rasool Wani on Tuesday said that Congress is committed to safeguarding the rights of people and serving them as an instrument of service, for the fact, it (Congress) has always worked in the public interest while ensuring equitable development of people irrespective of their region or religion.

He, according to the JKPCC spokesperson, made these comments while addressing a District review meeting at the Handwara area of Kupwara district in which Senior leaders of PCC and DCC were present.

The workers apprised the JKPCC Chief about the current socio-political scenario in the District and also highlighted multiple issues of public importance which are being ignored for unknown reasons

Wani sought details of political activities in every block of the District and urged Party workers to ensure that every programme of the party is successful.

On this occasion, Vikar Rasool Wani reminded the BJP Govt of its promise made on the floor of the house with regard to the restoration of Statehood and democratic process in J&K and said even after claiming complete normalcy in J&K, both these most significant demands are yet to restored and questioned the prolonged delay in this regard. He added that the people of J&K are eagerly waiting for the elections and their other rights to be restored, which cannot be denied any more.

JKPCC Chief also slammed the LG administration for failing to address local developmental issues of people, though many tall claims are pouring in from day in and day out, from different departments, but the reality is there is a lack of interest being found on account of resolution of people issues. He referred to the power crisis and said that Kashmir witnesses harsh weather every year, which is not a new thing, so the power supply in previous regimes used to be the priority, “but the present dispensation has completely ignored this sector despite the installation of smart meters, besides there are many other developmental issues concerning people in towns and villages including far-flung areas particularly worst condition of roads etc, which have failed to invite the attention of the administration”.

JKPCC Chief said the Congress Party has served people and will continue to serve them, at the same time, urged upon LG Govt to focus on people’s issues for their resolution, on a priority basis.

Senior Congress Leader Mohd Anwar Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Dr Gh Nabi Lone, Abdul Wahab Wani, Zahoor Ahmad Shah and various other leaders addressed the meeting.
