They said the bail was granted on the surety of Rs 50,000.

“In view of the facts and circumstances, I deem it proper to allow the application and enlarge the accused on interim bail upon his furnishing of surety and personal bond to the tune of Rs 50,000 subject to the following conditions,” reads the court order.

“The accused shall not attempt directly or indirectly to threaten or induce prosecution witness or anyone acquainted with the facts of the case and that the accused shall remain present as and when required by the investigation authority,” the order adds. The court has listed the case for next hearing on October 21.

Sheikh was arrested on September 21 under the Prevention of Corruption Act and sections 167 (public servant framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury), 193 (fabricating false evidence), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 210 (fraudulently obtaining a decree for a sum not due), 218 (public servant framing incorrect record) and 221 (intentional omission to apprehend on the part of a public servant bound to apprehend) of the IPC, they said.

Later the Jammu and Kashmir administration had on October 10 suspended Sheikh Adil Mushtaq with effect from September 21, the date of arrest of the officer.
