Srinagar: The retired employees of the Islamia College of Science & Commerce in Srinagar have been left in dire straits as they face a distressing situation of not receiving their pensions for the past two months.

This has prompted a delegation of Pensioners and Family Pensioners to come forward and appeal to the Hon’ble Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the concerned authorities at the college, for immediate intervention.

A significant number of retired staff members from the prestigious Islamia College of Science & Commerce, an educational institution with a rich history and reputation, have been grappling with financial hardships due to the non-disbursement of their pensions.

One of the pensioners, Mr. Ahmed Khan, voiced his concerns, saying, “We have dedicated our lives to the service of this esteemed institution. It is disheartening to see that we are now struggling to make ends meet because our pensions have not been disbursed for the past two months. Many of us rely on these pensions to cover medical bills and essential needs. We appeal to His Excellency, the Hon’ble Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, and the authorities at Islamia College of Science & Commerce, Srinagar, to urgently address this issue.”

In response to the crisis, the Pensioners and Family Pensioners delegation has called upon the Governor’s office and the management of Islamia College of Science & Commerce, Srinagar, to take immediate measures to ensure that the outstanding pensions are paid without further delay.

Additionally, they have urged that a more efficient system be put in place to guarantee timely disbursement of pensions in the future, ensuring that retired employees do not suffer due to administrative delays.
