Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has greeted the people on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. 

In a message, the LG said “the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to his teachings of non-violence, peace, truth, tolerance, communal harmony and work for nation building.

“Pujya Bapu’s lifelong mission was to transform the lives of people and rural India. His life and thoughts represent the eternal values of humanity, which are guiding different societies across the world. The significance of Pujya Bapu’s ideas and ideals and his philosophy of non-violence and peace is relevant today as never before.

“On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti let us take a pledge to follow the path of peace, truth and non-violence and strive to remove social inequities in our society,” the LG said.

Sinha also paid tributes to the former Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on the eve of his birth anniversary.

In a message, the LG said: “Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji was an exemplary leader and one of the greatest reformers of India. His life and work had a significant impact on the evolution of our country.”

“Shastri Ji’s slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ continues to inspire millions across the nations to unite for the cause of building ‘Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat’. On his birth anniversary, let us dedicate ourselves to the ideals and work of Shastri Ji,” he added.
