Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested the trucker involved in the Qazigund hit-and-run case in which four persons were killed.
A police spokesperson said in the wee hours of September 22, an unknown truck hit a Maruti Eco car (JK06B-0901) near a walnut factory in Qazigund area of Kulgam leaving six passengers critically injured. While the trucker fled the spot, the injured persons were shifted to Emergency Hospital Qazigund and subsequently referred to GMC Anantnag for further treatment. However, four of them succumbed later.
A case (FIR No. 206/2023) was registered in Police Station Qazigund and during investigations, police finally nabbed the accused driver identified as Aarif Ahmad Ellahi, son of Ghulam Rasool Ellahi, resident of Nowgam Verinag, Anantnag, police said, adding that the truck (JK22-7103) involved in the accident was also seized.
