Farooq Bhat of J&K Police to participate in 19th Asian Games in China

Srinagar: Farooq Ahmad Bhat, representing the J&K Dragon Boat Association, has achieved a significant milestone by earning a spot to represent India at the 19th Asian Games in 2023.

This prestigious event is taking place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23rd to October 8th, 2023.

Farooq’s selection marks a historic moment, as he becomes the first representative from Jammu and Kashmir and the second from India, alongside Tom Joseph, to participate in this prestigious event.

Farooq has not only excelled as a sportsman but also as a National Coach. His remarkable journey includes representing India at the 16th World Dragon Boat Championship held in Rayong Pattaya, Thailand, where India achieved a historic feat by clinching four medals, including the coveted Gold medal and two Bronze medals.

He previously represented India at the 12th World Dragon Boat Championship in Kunming, China, in 2017 as an ITO (International Technical Official) and as a Coach at the 14th Dragon Boat World Championship in Rayong Pattaya, Thailand, in 2019.

Farooq Ahmad Bhat is posted in J&K Police and has been showcasing his commitment to both sports, as well as public service.
