SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 12: The Two-day-long National level workshop on ‘Shaala Sidhi’ concluded here today.

Addressing the valedictory session of the workshop, Principal Secretary of Education, Alok Kumar underscored the importance of Shaala Sidhi in empowering schools to chart their own development course.

He emphasized that this visionary initiative provides schools a structured framework for self-assessment, enabling them to systematically evaluate their performance, and pinpoint areas for improvement with decisions based on robust data. He also lauded the region’s steadfast commitment to furnish every child with quality education, hailing the workshop as a pivotal stride towards the realization of this aspiration.

Alok Kumar elucidated on a series of innovative initiatives complementary to Shaala Sidhi. He illuminated the essence of SAMIKSHA, designed to solicit invaluable feedback from students on classroom interactions, with the overarching aim of bolstering learning outcomes and informing tailor-made training programs for educators.

He expounded upon the School Complex System, an innovative approach designed to optimize the allocation of resources, both human and material, with the ultimate goal of enhancing student achievement. He highlighted that the upgradation of civil infrastructure in the UT of J&K has attained pace and the Lieutenant Governor recently inaugurated civil work projects worth Rs 164 Crores under Samagra Shiksha & UT Capex, besides launching scores of new initiatives for enhancing learning outcomes of students.

Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj, in his remarks, said that the workshop is a collaborative effort of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, and Samagra Shiksha, Jammu and Kashmir, which unveiled an ambitious vision for the transformation of the education landscape. He added that this workshop served as a unique platform for profound discussions, exchange of expertise and insights on teaching methodologies and performance enhancement within educational institutions.

He also spoke on the transformative vision underpinning the Shaala Sidhi initiative, an integrated web-based school evaluation system poised to comprehensively assess and enhance myriad facets of school functioning.

While speaking on the occasion, the Director of School Education, Kashmir, Tassaduq Hussain echoed the department’s unwavering commitment towards changing schools into vibrant bastions of learning. He highlighted on the the pivotal role played by workshops like Shaala Sidhi in charting new frontiers for educational enhancement.

Pertinently, the two-day workshop was organised by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi in collaboration with the Samagra Shiksha, J&K and was attended by CEOs, DIET Principals, ZEOs, and HoIs representing various districts of Kashmir Division. 

This transformative initiative was taken to deliberate, share knowledge, and implement strategies aimed at elevating the quality of education in schools throughout the region, with the involvement of education luminaries, and administrators.
