Army in collab with civil agencies organises “Gulmarg Festival”

Srinagar: In order to boost tourism and promote local talent, the Indian Army in collaboration with civil agencies organised the “Gulmarg Festival” on 09 & 10 September 2023 at the Ice Skating Rink near Gondola Base in Gulmarg.

The festival was a mega event and comprised of a multitude of activities. The cultural events by local artists made people aware of the tourism potential of Kashmir and Gulmarg in particular.

A number of activities including a Mini Marathon, ATV Tiranga Rally, Horse and Pony races, Hiking, Hot Air Balloon ride, Zorbing Ball, Bubble Soccer, Zip Line and Cycle Marathon were conducted as part of the event. Online painting &photography competitions were organised to bring out the creativity of local talents of Kashmir and cash prizes were distributed to the participants. 

A sky diving & para motor demonstration by the much-acclaimed Parachute Regiment and Army Adventure Wing of the Indian Army was also conducted. The event promoted adventure sports, tourism and local talents, besides spreading a message of peace and harmony in Kashmir.

During the event, music & dance performances, a fashion show, and cultural programmes from local Kashmiri youth were also organised guest celebrities were called to entertain the audience with various folk songs and Bollywood tunes.
