District Baramulla celebrates National Sports Week in honour of Major Dhyan Chand

BARAMULLA: In the ongoing commemoration of the National Sports Week, a tribute to the revered hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary, the Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Baramulla, orchestrated a series of vibrant sports activities across different educational zones.

Zone Fatehgarh set the tone with a remarkable array of sports activities including Carrom, Kho Kho, and Jump Rope, engaging both boys and girls at GHS Fatehgarh. The students’ spirited participation in these events underscored their enthusiasm and passion for sports.

Zone Singpora Kalan echoed the celebratory spirit by hosting an assortment of activities that included Basketball, Futsal, Langori, and Langadi at HS Singpora Kalan. The event showcased the students’ dedication and energy towards sports.

Zone Baramulla echoed the same excitement as students enthusiastically took part in Basketball, Futsal, Langori, and Langadi. The collective participation of around 135 students showcased their active involvement and enthusiasm.

In Zone Chandanwari, the sports fervor continued with engaging sports activities including Basketball, Futsal, Langori, and Langadi. The active participation of 70 students exemplified their eagerness to embrace sports.

Zone Chandoosa elevated the celebration by organizing an inter-school Tug Of War competition for under 14 and 17 boys and girls. This dynamic event witnessed the participation of 250 students, highlighting their talent and competitive spirit.

The DYSSO Baramulla, Jatinder Singh expressed his gratitude to all participants, schools, and educators for their unwavering support in making the National Sports Week a resounding success. Through these activities, the district continues to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical well-being among the youth.
