Srinagar: The body of 27-year-old Imtiyaz Ahmad who had reportedly jumped into Dal Lake last evening was retrieved today, officials said.
A senior police official said that they received information that a person had jumped into the lake near Ghat number 1.
He said a rescue operation was launched to trace the person. After hectic efforts, the body of Imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Soura, was fished out today.
Meanwhile, an unidentified male body was also fished out from river Jhelum near Jamia bridge Sopore on Friday morning.
Locals spotted the body floating over water near Jamia Bridge in Sopore town, following which a police team recovered the body with the help of some fishermen, the residents said.
Police said that the body seems to be of an elderly person and was taken to SDH Sopore for identification.
