I-Day Week celebrations: District Water Sports event commences in Srinagar

Srinagar: The 20th District Water Skiing Championship organized by J&K Water Skiing Association under the banner of J&K Sports Council was inaugurated today at the Water Sports Center Nigeen Lake Srinagar, here.

During the opening session, the participants presented demos for water surfing, water skiing, mano water skiing, waterboarding, double skiing, zigzag skiing, and crisscross skiing.

Players from Srinagar, Bandipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Baramulla districts were part of the event. The championship will conclude tomorrow.

During the opening ceremony, the mementos were presented to the dignitaries by Rafiq-u-din Khan and Ghulam Mustafa, the general secretary and organizing secretary of the concerned association.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull today convened the meeting of all the managers and coaches of the Kashmir division to take stock of the preparations for the 76th Independence Day celebrations in the iconic Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.

It is important to mention that the venue will host the celebrations after a gap of many years as it was under renovation.

The Secretary Sports Council assigned roles to the different committees who have been directed to take all the necessary measures to make the celebrations memorable.

In the meantime, a number of sports events in the disciplines of Carrom and Tug of War were held at GHSS Kishtwar.
