Sopore: The Muslim Educational Trust J&K, in collaboration with the Shahi Hamadan Research Foundation, paid tribute to the legacy of Prof. Gh Rasool Bacha through the inaugural Prof G R Bacha Memorial lecture. 

The event, held at MET Sopore, focused on the “Vision for Higher Education in Kashmir” and featured eminent speakers who shed light on this vision within the framework of the recently adopted National Education Policy.

Professor Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi, a distinguished academic, served as the key speaker, providing insightful perspectives on the future of higher education in the region. Addressing a diverse audience, he delved into the implications of the National Education Policy and charted a path forward for educational advancement.

Mr. Mohammad Rafi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at MET, took the opportunity to share the institution’s transformative roadmap, emphasizing its commitment to shaping future generations.

Dr. Mohd Yousuf Zargar, Trustee and Chairman of the School Management Committee, extended a warm welcome to attendees and offered an overview of the historical significance of MET. He paid tribute to the profound contribution of Prof. G R Bacha in shaping the educational landscape of J&K.

A constellation of esteemed participants added their voices to the occasion, underlining the enduring impact of Prof. Bacha. Mr. Rafi Ahmad Masoodi (Retired Deputy CEO), Mr. Nisarul Karim (SHRF), Mr. Ab Rashid Afaq (Former Principal), Mr. Gh Hassan Ganaie (Former CEO), and Mr. Mohd Sultan Chopan (Former Insurance Officer) shared compelling accounts of Prof. Bacha’s instrumental role in shaping the destinies of countless students.

The day was further enriched by the gracious presence of Prof. Bacha’s daughters, Mtr Jawahira and Zubaida, who added a personal touch to the proceedings. 

The daughters addressed the audience, sharing poignant anecdotes and emotional reflections about their father’s life and contributions. As a heartfelt gesture, they announced their decision to sponsor annual cash prizes for the top performers in classes 12th and 10th, perpetuating their father’s memory. 

Concluding the event, Prof. Irshad Ahmad Wani, Member Secretary of MET, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all participants, with a special mention to the distinguished speakers and honored dignitaries. Their collective presence and insights enriched the commemoration of Prof. Gh Rasool Bacha’s enduring legacy in the realm of education.
