Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing led by its State President Shamim Firdous led a peaceful protest on the reported “missing of ten thousand Kashmiri girls in Kashmir”.

The provincial president Women’s Wing Er Sabiya Qadri was also present. The protestors including Women’s Wing functionaries, and District Presidents were stopped by the Police from moving towards TRC junction Srinagar and demanded answers from the J&K administration.

Interacting with media on the occasion Shameem Firdous said, “Over ten thousand girls and women went missing in Kashmir in three years. It is a matter of grave concern. The figure reveals the grave reality of women’s safety and security in Kashmir. Where are those who are propagating the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign? The situation today is such that women and girls feel unsafe whenever they go out of their homes, to schools, to work, or to any function. The fear of insecurity follows them everywhere.”

In her address Er. Sabiya Qadri said, “All big talk and small action. Big Talk, Small Action. ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is a mere platitude, the situation of women on various counts has only gone from bad to worse.”
