Jammu: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has expressed great disappointment against the present administration’s hollow promises to develop the Jammu region on modern lines.

At the outset of the meeting, Raghbir Singh Manhas raised serious concerns regarding the lack of basic amenities in rural areas and the difficulties being faced by the farmers, leading to hardships for the local population. He highlighted that the problems faced by the general public have intensified in the absence of a popular government in J&K.

Rattan Lal emphasized that the people of the Jammu region have been deprived of essential facilities, forcing them to take to the streets repeatedly to bring attention to their issues. Despite the significant mandate received from the people of Jammu in the 2014 and 2019 elections, the ruling Saffron Party has miserably failed to fulfill the aspirations of unemployed youth and other populations, he added.

He said that the recent incessant rains and flash floods have caused extensive losses to the people of the Jammu region, particularly farmers in areas like Akhnoor, Khour, Samba, Kathua, and RS Pura border belt. Regrettably, no teams have been constituted to assess these losses and offer support to the affected general public and farmers, he added.

The provincial president urged the Lt Governor to immediately constitute the teams to assess the losses being faced by the general public and farmers and compensate them accordingly without any further delay.

Ajay Sadhotra, a former Minister and Central Secretary asserted that the National Conference remains the only viable option for the people of J&K and is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the general public. He said that National Conference continues to work diligently towards addressing the concerns of the people and advocating for their rights and welfare.

Babu Rampal, former minister, and Central Zone President urged party workers to prepare for the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections in the state, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to serving the people.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, provincial Secretary of JKNC, called for unity among the people and urged their support for the J&K National Conference in the forthcoming polls.
