Assistant Commissioner KVS, Islam Khan, In charge of Principal KV No. 1 Srinagar, M. Thahiruddeen, and In charge of Principal KV No. 3, Kanti Prasad graced the occasion.

The programme was attended by distinguished academicians and members of the media, all of whom gathered to acknowledge the significant strides made in the education sector over the last three years.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner KVS, Islam Khan said that the NEP-2020 has been a beacon of positive change in our education system. It has laid the foundation for a forward-thinking approach that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills, preparing our students to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Khan delivered a presentation highlighting the implementation and informed that Kendriya Vidyalaya has successfully implemented the NEP -2020 in various ways throughout its 1250 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country and 3 Kendriya Vidyalayas located abroad. In alignment with the recommendations of NEP-2020, the age of admission in class 1 was revised to 6+ years from the academic year 2022-23 in all Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Recently, training has been imparted to the selected PRTs/HMs to continue the NIPUN initiatives for the students of class 3 during the session 2023-24. In the year 2023-24, one section of Balvatika-3 is being started in 450 Kendriya Vidyalayas, thereby increasing the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas having Balvatika classes to 500 during 2023-24.

Vidya Pravesh has been implemented in all Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country from the academic year 2021-22. KVS is following the NCF (FS) based pedagogy prepared by NCERT, among other initiatives.

Furthermore, media persons raised various questions that were addressed by Islam Khan, along with M. Thahiruddeen, and Kanti Prasad.

The policy promotes critical thinking over rote learning, emphasizes learning rather than mere studying, and encourages the development of a scientific temperament. It envisions a policy that aligns with the requirements of 21st-century India, fostering self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), and integrating the global with the local, Khan concluded.
