Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Bandipora, Baramulla and Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession, police spokesman informed Sunday.
He said at a checkpoint at Gundibon Hajin, police arrested a drug peddler Ishfaq Nabi Teli, son of Ghulam Nabi Teli of Nadikhai, and recovered 240 grams of cannabis from his possession. The motorcycle he was riding was also seized, police said.
At Muqam Chandoosa, police intercepted a vehicle (JK01AQ-6274) driven by one Irfan Ahmad Khan, son of Mukhtar Ahmad Khan of Khansahib Budgam. During the search, police recovered eight grams of heroin and 13 bottles of Illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and the vehicle seized, police said.
At Audoora Bridge in Handwara, police arrested two drug peddlers — Zakir Hussain Malik, son of Abdul Gani, and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Drungsoo Qalamabad. During the search, 150 grams of cannabis were recovered from their possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations initiated, police said.
