Dooru: Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Monday said that people living in upper reaches and other far-flung areas in J&K are living a pathetic life due to the negligent attitude adopted by the administration.

“There is no seriousness and accountability in the administration when it comes to the fulfillment of peoples’ needs. The disconnect between the administration and the common people has added more woes to the people, who are unrepresented and unheard in every respect,” said Mir.

“Govt must streamline the functioning of the departments and the concerned helmsmen be directed to perform their duties towards the people with responsibility and transparency to ensure respite to common people,” he said.

He, according to the JKPCC spokesperson, made these comments during his tour to various upper reaches in the Dooru segment where he met scores of local delegations. Mir was apprised of the shortage of ration, scarcity of drinking water, and poor supply of electricity especially in ST-dominated areas including Shalnad, Anderwan, Kootrein, Tangwad, and Aluchiward areas of Dooru Segment, and sought immediate attention of the Govt towards these issues of public importance.

Mir castigated the Govt for failing to reach out to people, especially in far-flung areas, though many tall claims are being made with regard to the well-being and development of the people, in reality, they (people) are disappointed over the treatment they are getting from the administration.

“The failures on the part of the administration to mitigate the suffering of common people is very unfortunate,” Mir added and urged the Govt to fix accountability in every department to ensure that people’s grievances especially ration shortage, poor supply of electricity, lack of development, extreme joblessness etc are addressed, on priority basis.

“Elections are the only way forward to ensure deliverance of justice and representation of people at every appropriate forum,” Ghulam Ahmad Mir told the BJP Govt at the Centre while reiterating that Statehood to J&K must be restored, without any further loss of time.
