11 IT projects completed after G20 meeting in Srinagar: CEO SSCL

175 km underground OFC installed to address connectivity issues

Srinagar: Eleven IT projects have been completed with over 175 kilometer long underground Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) installed throughout the city as on June 30 under Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL).

OFC, officials said, was installed to address digital connectivity issues in the summer capital under the Srinagar Data Network project, to be controlled from Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) at HMT.

Speaking to ‘Kashmir Images’, Athar Amir Khan, who heads SSCL as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said 33 projects will be completed till October this year while remaining 11 projects will be completed by March-April next year.

He said all critical junctions will be regulated through Srinagar Data Network.

Regarding work on the ongoing projects, Khan said the executing agency has been tirelessly working to transform Srinagar into a virtual smart city.

“After successful conduct of G20 working group meeting in Srinagar in May this year, eleven IT projects have been completed in Srinagar with a 175 kilometer long underground Optical Fiber Cable installed in the city to address the digital connectivity issues,” Khan added.

He said Srinagar is undergoing a major facelift under Srinagar Smart City Ltd with separate underground sewerage and drainage networks, underground electricity and communication lines, improved building facades and public convenience facilities.

“Work on all pending projects is going on at full pace and will be completed in the allotted time,” he said, replying to a query that work on Smart City projects is going at snail’s pace after the G20 meeting.
