SRINAGAR: In response to a news item carried by a local daily regarding the noncompletion of the footbridge in Rafiabad for 11 years.
According to an official spokesman, the bridge is nearing completion as both abutments and two pier stands have been completed till date. Fabrication and launching of the superstructure of the bridge are in progress and the bridge will be fully completed by October 2023, the spokesman said.
The construction of the bridge started in the year 2012-13 and due to inadequate funding in corresponding years, the project faced delays. The Government approved the project under the languishing scheme in the year 2018-19 with an amount of Rs 172.08 lacs.
The present LG-led Administration is committed to the welfare of common people and in the last few years, the development of Jammu and Kashmir has seen ample thrust with the establishment of modern class infrastructure across the length and breadth of UT.
