Sheetal Nanda inspects OSC, Child Care Home, CBRC at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, on Friday, visited Bandipora district and inspected the One Stop Center (OSC) at District Hospital Bandipora besides Child Care Institute and Cradle Baby Reception Centre, Sonerwani.

She took stock of the facilities being made available at One Stop Centre and the shelter home and also reviewed its functioning.

She was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, District Programme Officer, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, and officers of the social welfare department.

On the occasion, Commissioner’s Secretary was informed about the functioning of the center and the assistance being provided there to the women.

Sheetal Nanda also reviewed the functioning of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women in Bandipora (Erstwhile Mahila Shakti Kendra).

Commissioner Secretary was also informed about the infrastructure development going on in the district, including the recent construction of a Tribal hostel, etc.

Sheetal Nanda instructed for creating mass awareness among the people regarding various welfare measures being implemented and provided through ICPS.

She directed for taking out Child Protection Services in the district to the next level, which will act as a boon for all the children of the district in particular and UT in general.

Commissioner Secretary also took stock of the working of Observation homes and the staff position of these vital units of ICPS.

Gender Specialist, Aisha Shafi, informed the Commissioner Secretary about the performance of the hub.

She informed that they are regularly interacting with women and facilitate them in availing the benefit of various schemes. She informed that 13 cases of females have been sent to Sheep Husbandry Department for the establishment of income generation units.

She said the Hub has also referred 40 girls for skill development at RSETI under the Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme.

Besides, the hub has also recommended 25 children from the 0-10 age group for opening Sukanaya Samridhi Accounts in Post Office wherein they are being given 8 percent interest on savings.
