Baramulla: Tragedy struck the Wani family of Kanlibagh Baramulla in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday after their lone son lost his life in a tragic road accident mishap at Budmulla Narvaw Sheeri which also left several others injured on Thursday.

According to a police officer, the incident occurred when two scooters collided head-on near Budmulla village. The two scooters bearing number JK05L/0160 driven by Burhan Shah, son of Ishfaq Ahmad Shah, and JK05D/7511 driven by Haroon Rashid Wani son of Abdul Rashid Wani of Kanlibagh collided causing the accident, sources said.

The injured were identified as Nida Farooq Naqasbandi, son of Farooq Ahmad Naqasbandi from Baba Raza Sopore; Sheikh Huzaif, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh from Kanispora; and Haroon Rashid Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani from Sangri Colony, Baramulla.

The injured were immediately rushed to the PHC Sheeri for medical treatment. However, due to the severity of their injuries, two of the injured were further shifted to GMC Baramulla, where Haroon Rashid Wani tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The news of the young man’s tragic demise sent shockwaves throughout the Kanlibagh in Baramulla town, enveloping the town in an atmosphere of grief and mourning. The Wani family was devastated by the loss of their sole son who is nephew of Ikhlaq Ahmad Wani, a prominent businessman in Baramulla.

Police have registered a case under FIR No 48/2023 under relevant sections of the law, and initiated an investigation.
