Police inaugurate Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Shopian

Srinagar: In a remarkable initiative to promote women’s sports and community engagement, Police in Shopian inaugurated the Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Shopian.

The tournament was organized under the auspices of the Civic Action Programme which aims to encourage participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the talented female athletes of the region.

The opening ceremony of the Women’s Volleyball Tournament was held at Sports Stadium Batpora Shopian where teams from various localities and villages gathered to showcase their skills and compete for the coveted trophy. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, community leaders, and enthusiastic spectators, who came together to support the participating athletes.

During the inaugural ceremony, the senior police officers highlighted the significance of sports in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall personality development. They underscored the role of sports in empowering women, instilling discipline, and nurturing leadership qualities.

While speaking on the occasion, SSP Shopian Tanushree stressed upon the young & budding players of the district to allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports.

The inaugural match was played between Shahi Hamdan School Vs Shadab Karewa which was won by Shahi Hamdan School by 6:1 Points. The inaugural match was witnessed by all Police officers of the district.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Police is organizing different sports events, like volleyball tournament, football tournament, cultural programmes, and other co-curricular activities in the district for the upliftment of sports among the youth.

The main aim & motive of organizing such events is to develop brotherhood, love, and peace & keeping youth away from the menace of drugs.
