Police pays homage to fallen colleague at Kokernag

Srinagar: In order to pay honor and respect to police personnel Fayaz Ahmad of Lohersanzi, Kokernag, who was injured in a terror attack on July 12 last year at Lalbazar and who passed away today, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at his native village, police said in a statement.

It said police officers led by DIG IRP Kashmir, Commandant IRP-10th Bn, Commandant IRP-13th Bn, Commandant IRP-17th Bn, Dy. Commandants of IRP-10th Bn, 13th Bn, DySsP of IRP-10th & 11th Bns, SDPO Kokernag and SHO Kokernag, other senior police officers and locals of the area participated in the ceremony and laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the Ahmad for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

On July 12, 2022, terrorists fired upon a Naka party near G.D Goenka Public School area of Lal Bazar Srinagar, killing ASI Mushtaq Ahmad, and two personnel — HC Fayaz Ahmad and SPO Abu Bakar– were injured.

ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar on behalf of J&K Police conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty, the statement said.
