Awantipora: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Islamic University of Science and Technology is organizing a two-day Film Festival on June 14-15, 2023. 

The Festival is being organized in collaboration with Film South Asia and Hri Institute for South Asian Research and Exchange. The themes for the film festival are G20 thrust areas and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Prof. Shakil A Romshoo (Vice Chancellor IUST) will be the Chief Guest and Ms. Laxmi Murthy (Director Hri Institute for South Asian Research and Exchange) will be the Guest of Honour for the event. 

Besides screening international documentaries, film entries from all the mass communication institutions of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir were invited to the Festival and the selected entries will be screened during the festival.

A workshop on Film Making will also be held as part of the festival, wherein media students from different institutions will participate.

Dr. Mujeeb Liyakat, HoD Journalism and Mass Communication said that the film festival involving featuring of films will also provide a platform for young and talented filmmakers to exchange their ideas regarding the art of storytelling through films and thereby inspire the students.
