Director Horticulture concludes two days tour of North, South Kashmir districts

SRINAGAR: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir today concluded an extensive two-day tour of the Kashmir valley, from June 9th to June 10th aimed to assess the progress and implementation of the “Revised Modified High-Density Plantation Scheme” across the valley.

Accompanied by the Chief Horticulture Officers and other field functionaries of the Department, the Director began his tour by visiting the districts of Shopian and Pulwama on the first day. He inspected several newly established orchards under the “Revised Modified High-Density Plantation Scheme” and closely examined the ongoing plantations at Nadigund village in Shopian and Pricho village in Pulwama.

Continuing his tour on the second day, the Director of Horticulture visited the districts Baramulla and Kupwara. He inspected various recently established orchards under the scheme and actively participated in the ongoing plantations at Jalalabad village at Sopore, Baramulla.

During these visits, he interacted with local orchardists, understanding their concerns, and assuring them of all necessary support.

Recognizing the significance of the “Revised Modified High-Density Plantation Scheme” as a prestigious program initiated by the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Director held discussions on the challenges faced and exchanged ideas to overcome them.

He directed the field functionaries and the Empanelled Agencies (PEs) to expedite the establishment of orchards under the scheme, emphasizing the importance of achieving the set targets in their entirety.

In addition to his district tours, the Director of Horticulture paid a visit to the Fruit Plant Nursery Base Station in Chougal, Handwara. During this visit, he meticulously assessed the various development activities taking place and emphasized the production of high-quality fruit plant materials.
