Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Shopian and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials informed Sunday.

They said in Shopian, a police party at Naghard Crossing intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 900 grams of contraband cannabis powder-like substance from his possession. Identified as Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Raheem Sheikh of Zurpora Bijbehera, the person has been arrested.

In Baramulla, at a checkpoint established at Railway Crossing Pattan, police arrested three drug smugglers travelling on a scooty (JK05K-6259), and recovered 380 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from their possession. 

Trio was identified as Sajad Ahmad Gojri, son of Mohammad Sultan; Mohammad Aman Gojri, son of Manzoor Ahmad, and Basit Ahmad Gojri, son of Mohammad Ramzan, residents of Pattan, Baramulla, police said.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, police said.
