Srinagar Food Safety Deptt takes cognizance of viral video

SRINAGAR: Taking cognizance of a viral video regarding bread with fungal growth and without manufacturing and expiry date, a team of the Food Safety Department carried out an investigation and lifted four samples from the concerned Bakery shop.

The team, headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety designated Officer Srinagar on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, took 2 samples of bread and one sample of sweets and chicken Patties for analytical purposes.

Also, a challan under insanitary conditions/not maintaining food items at recommended temperature control, and wrong storage practices will be submitted before Adjudicating Office Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Bakery Unitholders of the District have been asked to refrain from selling bread without batch No. and use by Date otherwise strict action under Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 shall be initiated against the defaulters. 

Besides, the use of PPE should be in place in all Bakery outlets/Fast food centers/Restaurants/Dhabas, and Kiosks, in addition to the use of Hand Gloves/Head Gear and Appron are mandatory under FSSA.
