The awareness camp aimed to shed light on the detrimental effects of drug abuse on individuals and society was organized by the Department of Social Welfare Anantnag in collaboration with Youth Services and Sports Department and Higher Secondary Khanabal.

During his address, Matheu emphasized that despite being physically challenged, he had never let disability hinder his pursuit of goals. He encouraged students to be courageous in facing and overcoming challenges, stressing the importance of willpower. Matheu urged participants to stay away from drugs and encouraged them to engage in sports activities.

A pledge ceremony was conducted, with attendees vowing to refrain from drug use and actively discourage others from falling into its grip, with the ultimate goal of making India a drug-free nation.

Later, Matheu inaugurated a volleyball tournament organized by Youth Services and Sports, demonstrating his commitment to promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle through sports.

The sports icon was warmly welcomed by the students, who found his speech inspiring and motivational.
