4 drug peddlers arrested: Police
Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has arrested four drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.
A police party arrested a drug peddler — Shahid Afridi Shah, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah of Melhura, at a checkpoint near Petrol Pump Melhura Wachi. During the search, police recovered 177 grams of cannabis, four grams of brown sugar and ₹10,000 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from his possession.
At Sofanaman near Pinjora Crossing in Shopian, one Abdul Gani Monchi, son of Abdul Rehman Monchi, resident of Rakh Chedren, was arrested after 155 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
At Main Market Tangmarg near Hotel Mahajan, police arrested one Khursheed Ahmad Bakshi, son of Mohammad Rafiq Bakshi, resident of Watalpora Tangmarg, and recovered 15 grams of cannabis from his possession.
In Kulgam, one Arbaaz Ahmad Mir, son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir of Furrah was arrested after four kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession.
All the arrested drug-peddlers have been shifted to concerned police stations where they remain in custody while cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations initiated, police said.
