Agri Dept optimizing utility of departmental farms to attain self-reliance in seed requirement: Ch Iqbal

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Allowpora, Shopian, and inspected different blocks of the farm besides taking stock of different activities.

While interacting with the staff and technical experts of Allowpora Farm, the Director of Agriculture said that the Department for the last two years has started an initiative and is endeavoring to optimize the utility of Departmental farms to attain self-reliance in the field of seed requirement for Kashmir Division.

He said the department has already fixed benchmarks and targets for every departmental farm in the valley so far as the production of different kinds of seeds is concerned and after visiting different farms in recent times he expressed satisfaction and optimism that it could achieve those targets in an effective manner.

The Director of Agriculture appreciated the efforts of the concerned officers and technical experts of Allowpora Farm and asked them to work with close coordination so that this Farm could achieve new heights in the years to come.
